Airfreight Forwarders Association of Malaysia (2019) (AFAM) was established in 1975 (formally known as Persatuan Ejen-Ejen Kargo Udara Malaysia or Airfreight Forwarders Association of Malaysia till 2019) as a National Association representing the Freight Forwarders in the Logistic Industry.
AFAM, under the leadership of our Chairman, Mr. Walter Culas are being in the airfreight industry for 48 years and chairman of AFAM for 28 years. He lead the organisation in requesting for facilities to the government on behalf of our members, he has seen it all and done it all. Despite achieving respectable veteran status in the industry, he still has no plans to rest on his laurels.
The main role of AFAM is to represent all the interests of the members and to articulate their problems to the relevant authorities. AFAM provides a platform for our members to discuss relevant issues and government policies, whereby we consolidate a commensurate voice to the government agencies.
AFAM deal directly with 28 government agencies and government bodies such as Ministry of Finance (MOF), Royal Malaysian Customs (Putrajaya HQ), Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Ministry of Transport (MOT), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI), Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS), Ministry of Health (MOH), Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (Perhilitan), Malaysian Investment Development (MIDA), Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad, Free Zone Authority, Port Klang Authority, Cargo Terminal Operators such as MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd, POS Aviation Sdn Bhd and Ground Team Red Sdn Bhd also Port Operators such as Northport (Malaysia) Berhad, Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Port Klang Free Zone and Asa Niaga Harbour City Sdn Bhd.
In the committee, we vet the requests of our members and then proceed to engage with the relevant parties when we have come to an agreement.
